My therapy practice is dedicated to helping people overcome difficulties in managing troubling emotions, dysfunctional behaviors, or problems in career, relationship, or life transition. Working primarily in short-term cognitive behavioral models, trouble areas are defined and broken down. Clients are encouraged to collaborate on developing new, healthier perspectives, and effective coping strategies and skills. Foundations in psychodynamic and developmental theory, neuroscience, as well as eastern philosophy and mindfulness practice often inform and shape the course of work.

Bio:
After many years working in film, television, and multimedia production, I went back to school to start towards this second career as a psychotherapist.
In my mid-thirties, stressed from conflict between work, which demanded long days of total immersion, and obligation to my young family, I sought psychotherapy and began a mindfulness meditation practice. Through this work, I found insights and developed skills which not only helped me in better managing my emotions, but also happened to kick-off the career change.
I earned my Bachelor's in Psychology and Religion at Hunter/the CUNY BA program, and then went on for a Master's in Social Work at NYU.
My NYU training included an internship at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center where I worked with clients afflicted with severe and persistent mental illness. An internship at the Albert Ellis Institute followed. There I trained in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) while providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and groups. As a post-grad, I completed a fellowship with the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter working with homeless MICA (Mentally Ill Chemical Abusing) clients at the Coalition's Bronx Transitions program.
Sessions/Fees:
All sessions are currently being conducted via secure voice or video chat.
I see most individual clients for one regularly scheduled 45 minute “hour” per week.
My standard rate is $250. There is no charge for an initial phone consultation.
When money is an issue, I can often offer a reduced, sliding-scale rate.
Insurance:
If you have out-of-network benefits, all or part of your sessions fees may be reimbursable.
